This policy explains what personal data Digtech Hosting collects, why we collect it, how it is used and protected, and the choices you have. Last updated July 2026.
1. Who we are
Digtech Hosting ("Digtech Hosting", "we", "us" or "our") is a web hosting, domain registration, web design and software development company operating from Grand West Arcade, High Street, Mbarara City, Uganda. This policy applies to digtechhosting.com, our client portal at clients.digtechhosting.com, and any services, forms or communications connected to them.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Your name, email address, phone number and any details you submit through our contact form, domain search, or when you sign up for hosting, a domain, or a project with us. This may include billing details, business information, and the content of messages you send us.
When you host with us or register a domain, we and our infrastructure providers process information needed to deliver the service: domain registrant details, DNS records, website files, databases, email accounts, and support correspondence.
Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring page, and timestamps) are recorded automatically when you visit our website, primarily for security and diagnostics.
We use a small amount of browser local storage to remember interface preferences, such as your chosen display currency. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain and support the hosting, domain, design and development services you request.
- Respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form or by phone and email.
- Send service-related communications, such as renewal reminders, invoices, and maintenance notices.
- Detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents affecting our systems or clients.
- Meet legal, regulatory and domain registry obligations, including WHOIS requirements.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only where necessary to deliver our services:
- Domain registries and registrars, to register and manage domain names on your behalf, in line with applicable WHOIS and registry rules.
- Infrastructure and hosting providers we work with to deliver reliable, secure hosting. We select providers that meet appropriate security and data protection standards.
- Payment processors, to process invoices and payments for our services; we do not store full card details ourselves.
- Authorities, only where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Digtech Hosting, our clients, or the public.
5. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account or service is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet accounting, legal, and domain registry requirements. Contact form submissions unrelated to an active service are retained only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, then deleted or anonymised.
6. How we protect your information
We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data, including free SSL encryption on hosted websites, restricted access to production systems, daily backups, and ongoing monitoring for malware and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
7. Your rights
Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and general good practice, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal data we hold about you, and request a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
- Ask us to delete personal data we no longer have a legitimate reason to keep.
- Withdraw consent for optional communications, such as promotional emails, at any time.

8. Children's privacy
Our services are intended for businesses and individuals who are able to enter into a binding agreement. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we ask that our services not be used to submit information on behalf of a child without a parent or guardian's involvement.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or practices. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
